Print-on-demand (POD) can take on a fresh look depending upon the industry and business model its applied to. The objective of POD is to reduce overall costs, revise content as often as necessary, deliver faster all while incorporating sustainable practices.
There are two very distinct models that our customers find meet their needs exceptionally well for production, price, and delivery.
The first model is Direct POD where production takes places at the time of order. Production time in as little as three business days business days, and distribution is direct to factory line, office, end-user – wherever the product will be used right away. There is absolutely no inventory with this model. This model tends to be most popular with our manufacturing, industrial, and business services clients.
The second model is Short-Run POD where a small amount is produced, inventoried, and distributed when an order is placed. The difference between this model and print-to-inventory is the time products stay in inventory. This model is uniquely designed to fit each customer looking at usage rates, demand, and revision frequency to determine the proper inventory amount. Pricing flexibility and next day fulfillment are key benefits to the Short-Run POD model which is most popular with our publishing and author clients.
